Today, on May 10, 2021, the Committee for Supervising of the Work of the National Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency, paid an oversight visit to the premises of the Intelligence Agency in accordance with the conclusion adopted at the second session of the Committee for Supervising of the Work of the National Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency held on 27.04.2021. This visit is the first one since the setting-up of the new parliamentary composition, after the Elections held in July 2020.

The purpose of the visit was for the MPs to get acquainted with the benefits of the new Law on the Intelligence Agency, passed on January 25, 2021, the place and the role of the Intelligence Agency in the security and intelligence community, as well as the new organizational structure.

Additionally, the MPs asked questions about the work of the Agency, in accordance with the competencies of the Committee determined by the law, and the possibilities of Intelligence Agency representatives to hold security briefings for the MPs from the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia were considered.

The MPs expressed interest in the obstacles to the European integration process, cooperation with other foreign intelligence services, especially regarding the exchange of sensitive information related to the pandemic, possible cyber-attacks, as well as the use of social networks for propaganda and intelligence activities.

It was agreed that the next parliamentary supervision would take place in autumn of this year.
