The Director of the Intelligence Agency, Erolld Musliu, along with the management team, met with the Director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Major General (Retired), Barre R. Seguin, on August 31, 2022.
The Director Seguin was introduced with the reforms in the security and intelligence community in the Republic of North Macedonia, and with the reforms within the Intelligence Agency from a legislative and organizational aspect. They exchanged opinions regarding the current security challenges, primarily the geopolitical competition that develops hybrid strategies and threats, regional security - strategic phenomena and processes, the various forms of asymmetric threats and cyber security. This implies the need for continuous upgrading of the capacities of the Agency in the direction of timely recognition and prevention.
The priorities of the Intelligence Agency are mostly contained within the topics and issues covered by the Marshall Center, primarily in the form of resident courses, ad hoc seminars, forums and research. Therefore, the Marshall Center has been a recognizable partner of the Intelligence Agency for over a decade, where a great number of employees have upgraded their expertise.
The Director Musliu shared satisfaction that a significant number of employees of the Intelligence Agency, who were students at the Center now lead the processes and implement the acquired knowledge in their daily work. Additionally, the Director Seguin had the opportunity to hear the positive impressions of the Center’s lodgings and programs at first-hand.
The Marshall Center, with its distinction as an educational institution and a networking point for professionals from various continents, will continue its partnership with the Intelligence Agency in the future education and improvement of its employees.
