Warsaw, September 27, 2022
On September 27, 2022, the Deputy Director of the Intelligence Agency, Ms. Aleksandra Bakrevska – Dodovska, participated at an event within the OSCE Human Dimension Conference, held in Warsaw, Poland, at the invitation of Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance – DCAF.
The aim was to share the experience on the “Intelligence and Gender” Toolkit, published by DCAF, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and United Nations Organization for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UN Women).
The Deputy Director emphasized the challenges of the Intelligence Agency related to the intelligence and gender equality, as well as the benefits and inspiration from the Toolkit.
“The Intelligence Agency is a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment, with respect to diversity. However, when it comes to women’s integration in intelligence, the values are the same: traditional stereotypes and encouragement men to advance job careers prevail. We have done enormous steps towards integration of women’s perspective in intelligence but more is to be done in future. Our vision is to influence the already existing attitudes in our society that intelligence is inherited trait to men only, to encourage and raise awareness that women do have equal opportunities like men. To make changes, to accept the challenges and overcome the prejudices and constraints”.
