AR Deputy Director at the Conference on the oversight role of the Ombudsman


On the 8th of November 2023, the Deputy Director of the Intelligence Agency, Aleksandra Bakrevska-Dodovska attended the “Conference on the oversight role of the Ombudsman over intelligence and security”, an event organized in coordination between the Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia and DCAF – the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance. The conference was held in the framework of the Intelligence and Security Sector Reform Programme (2021-2026), implemented by DCAF, and financed by the European Union, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.

The aim of the Conference was strengthening of the role of the Ombudsman as oversight actor over intelligence and security, as well as exchange of best European practices in regard to the oversight role of the Ombudsman over the intelligence and security institutions. At the Conference, the focus was on the best practices from the region and beyond.

In the area of inter-institutional cooperation, the Intelligence Agency maintains regular communication and correspondence with the Ombudsman under the legal obligation as a state body to provide quarterly reports on actions following addressings and recommendations of the Ombudsman.
